Africa Oyé is the UK’s largest festival of African and Caribbean music and culture. Each June, our
event draws audiences from near and far to take in some of the best music the world has to offer in
the picturesque surroundings of Liverpool's Sefton Park.

Having grown from humble beginnings as a series of gigs across Liverpool's city centre in 1992,
Africa Oyé is now not only the largest celebration of African and Caribbean culture in the UK, but
also one of the biggest in Europe. In both 2010 and 2011, the festival brought an estimated £1.3
million to the region's economy and attracted over 50,000 people from all around the UK and abroad.
We expect as many if not more to attend in this, our 21st anniversary year.

Africa Oyé is a registered charity partially funded by the Arts Council of England North West and
Liverpool City Council as well as through sponsorship, advertising, in kind support, and the
revenue generated from pitched traders, merchandise and The Oyé Inn.

Lloyd Banks performs at his B day Party Sat 13th April. Also reveals the fate of his mixtape

Lloyd Banks performed to a sold-out crowd at Addiction Nightclub in Waterbury, CT, on April 13th, 2013. Besides performing some of his classic hits -- including "When The Chips Are Down," "I'm So Fly," and the "Victory" freestyle -- as well as some new classics ("Shock the World" and "Fly in the Wind"), Banks reveals the fate of one of his mixtapes. Though he didn't say which tape, particularly, was scrapped, Banks revealed that he did, indeed, scrap one of his greatly-anticipated mixtapes. "I'm my own worst critic," he told the crowd. "I'd rather you all hear this $h!t at 100%."

Pure Science

Maidstone Kents Source Bar was the setting for the Pure Science 16th Birthday Bash on Friday March 29. With four different stages which included an outdoor stage, this was set to be the most talked about rave for years to come after completely selling out with still two weeks to go. With a line up including Goldie, MBE David Rodigan, Mampi Swift, Dj Brockie, Ed Rush & Optical, SPY & SP MC, Andy C and many more. This had the feel of a festival with every Drum N Bass DJ and MC you would want to see all under one roof. Original Pure Science residents DJ Ollie and Richie Weaver got the party started for all the old school junglists in town with MC Foxy supplying the crowd with the first MC set of the night. Following this was the legendary radio DJ and MBE David Rodigan who supplied the crowd with a selection of Dub, Drum n Bass and Dubstep and also included a live P.A from Dirtee Stank group Newham Generals performing Breakage produced Hard and there new single Darren and Dan.

Following this in the Pure Science room was the legendary Mampi Swift and Randall, meanwhile on the outdoor stage SPY and SP:MC warmed the crowd up for Andy C and IC 3, supplying the crowd with some hard drum n bass making the cold air outside seem more like a sauna with the amount of heat from the highly energetic crowd. Midnight Andy C, Dizzee Rascal and Roots Manuva's DJ DJ MK took to the decks in the VIP room supplying the VIP guests to an old school hip hop mix.

The VIP room featured two outside smoking areas where you could enjoy the best of three stages at any time as it overlooked both the Hardsoul stage and the Outdoor stage which meant you could never miss any of the action. If the line up so far wasn't enough there was still Goldie and GQ who had a 20 year of Metalheadz set planned playing every classic you could imagine and managed to fit all of this in one hour. With the outdoor stage now closing attention was now on the Pure Science stage were old school Drum n Bass legends Ed Rsh and Optical gave the crowd a taste of 15 years of classic material with the bass being that heavy from the set it almost blew the speakers. Four o'clock in the morning and the energy was still incredible, tiredness was not an option as there was still a set from DJ Brockie and MC Skibadee. With only two hours to go you would think that the night had only just begun as nobody wanted to leave and the atmosphere was still incredible and as DJ Ruffstuff was set to play the last song of the evening the crowd still wanted to hear more. This had everything you could want to see as a raver all under one roof and for the price you would usually pay to see just one of the acts. The festival feel of the outdoor stage mixed with the intimate setting of the Pure Science room and the chilled and calm VIP area you had the best of all worlds. An incredible evening and what better way to celebrate your 16th year of being one of the best Promoters UK has seen than to have all these icons under one roof. Possibly the biggest and best rave of recent years and can guarantee this event will win an award of somekind.

DJ Cameo Birthday Bash at Scala with many artists

First and foremost I'd like to wish DJ Cameo a very Happy Birthday as well as congratulate him and Saskilla (Former member of Nu Brand Flexxx), on the success of a very well organised event and the first of it’s kind in the UK to the best of my knowledge.

After misdirecting us to the wrong location we flicked on the SatNav and found ourselves cruising straight to our destination. As we rolled past the club (Scala in Kings Cross) we instantly noticed how long and thick the cue was to get in. The first thing I thought was, "Oh my days, do you know how cold it is? I’m not standing in that cue!" lol. Fortunately what felt like an hour in this intense cold was in reality only just a few minutes due to the press passes reserved for us.

Even though arriving fashionably late caused us to miss quite a few of the actsthat graced the stage, we were lucky to arrive just as things were heating up. The birthday extravaganza that had scheduled to have 100 of the best UK acts all under one roof was now in full swing. We walked into the main room to find Cameo on the decks dropping hip hop banger after banger before switching things up and bringing Funky Dee to the stage to hype up the crowd which he did no problem. Cameo then proceeded to bring out an array of artists such as Saskilla, Jamkay, Scrufizzer, Kozzie, Gracious K, Egypt, P Money, Little Dee, Big
Narstie, Blacks, Ratlin, the beautiful Ny, Flirta D, Stylo G, Sneakbo, Political Peak, Kele Le Roc, Flirta D, C4, Bloodline, Preditor, Dj Quincy and many more artist who tore the place down.

Throughout the night, artist after artist hit the stage performing freestyles, cyphers, exclusive new singles and classic crowd favourites leaving hardly any time for a dull moment without things actually getting out of hand.

One thing that I did find quite strange though was, the fact that the crowd at times for no apparent reason seemed some what distant from what was going on in front of them. Almost as if they we’re caught off guard and weren’t aware of what was
actually happening and how lucky they were to be present at such an event.

Over all I give the event a well deserved rating of 9/10 and hope that Cameo, Jessica and Saskilla come back and do something like this very soon! Well done again lads. History was definitely made.

Kix Mag attends Musicalize @ o2 Indigo // 24th March 2013: Dappy, Angel, Tinchy Stryder Ms Dynamite +

Kix Mag, participated in attending the UK's fastest growing live music showcase event Musicalize held at the O2 London Indigo, live music all night performed by unsigned artists to established artists who are currently making moves in the industry, socializing and networking with fellow music lovers and like minded industry people.

On Sunday 24th March 2013, at the o2 Indigo we had performances from Dappy, Tinchy Stryder, Ms Dynamite, Angel and more… The event first kicked off with showcases from live unsigned bands making waves in the underground music industry coming with a full piece band, showing their grace and skills held on stage, the crowd was just getting warmed up and settling into the mood off listening to some more great music.

Kliq first graced the stage, in showing their MC Skills / Singing by expressing their emotions of rising to the top and thanking the fans, in each of their songs performed live. Amplify Dot came on showing her versatility in rap and singing expressing that you don’t need to be a guy to do well in music.

Angel ‘pops in’ like he always does showing his magic on stage with his raw talent in song writing & singing, with the crowd going wild followed by his UK famous track ‘Wonderful’ which won over the girls instantly and also expressing on stage to all his fans about his new single launching on the 8th April with an exclusive video drop, with his album later releasing so stay tuned.

Ms Dynamite coming on stage as hard as always ‘the best female UK MC’, performing her original track ‘Dy-Na-Mi-Tee’ pleasing the crowd as always following with a UK Hit Single with ‘Lights On’ ft Katy B showing other artists how it should be done at these events.

Tinchy Stryder jumps on stage as energetic as ever hyping the crowd for his first crowd pleaser song ‘Never Leave You’ shortly followed by ‘Number One’, getting the crowd pumped for the ‘Harlem Shake’ that he MC’d over getting all the crowd to shake their booty when they heard that ‘Raw’, and crowds intensity struck because everyone was waiting for Dappy to jump on stage. Tinchy Stryder showed us all why he belonged on that stage coming from a Local East London background showing everyone can make this far and beyond.

Dappy blew the stage, by an entrance from all the smoke, making the girls cry and the guys following his lead, in performing ‘Tarzan’ showing that he is the king of the jungle. After his intense performance shortly followed by his next song choice 'Yin Yang', straight away followed by 'Spaceship' and jumping on stage with him was Tinchy Stryder as a duo performance. Ending and closing the night with ‘I O U’ but the crowd wanted more, the venue lights switched on but Dappy still remained on stage performing ‘Good Intentions’.

Overall the Night was a great success and Kix Mag & The Team is looking forward to the Next One… So Stay Tuned!

RnB Superstars The Show Tour - Jodeci fall off!

Jodeci fall off literally speaking.
We we're very amped about this show and couldn't wait for this to happen. It's been a while since Iv'e seen any'90's groups of this calibre come to the UK to perform so had to be there to witness it.We arrived at the venue fighting the biting cold weather. Once we we're checked in at entry we we're escorted to the V.I.Ppre party hosted by Bassbuds (a new fresh design of headphones embedded with Swarovski crystal). As we walked in we wasushered to take a picture on the red carpet by a photographer, then let loose to enduldge in a free bar. We saw thelikes of JLS, Tyson Beckford, Young Spray, Lisa Mafia, Zac from Eskimo Dance, Misha B, Ashleen (Big brother), Bianca Gascoign plus much more.

7:30pm came and we headed to our seats where we we're pleased to see UK's very own Damage going through there old joints"Ghetto Romance" and "Rumours". Our hosts for the evening was Eddie Kadi, DJ Frisky and Jigs how took us through the '90sera of classic tunes.First to hit the stage from the USA was Changing Faces who after a few technical difficuties soon got into most of theirgreat classic hits getting the 11,000 crowd to their feet. Then came SWV with some of there classics such as "You're The One" and "Weak" which gave me goose bumps. Great performance.

Then came Dru Hill, Blackstreet then Jodeci. Dru Hill and Blackstreet put on an absolutley amazing show going throughmuch wanted classics, and the show was going well up until then. But then Jodeci came on, falling off the stageas fast as they came on. Must of been an accident. But then going into some old classics I noticed the singing wasoff key, shortly after that I noticed the crowd started to boo. From here the night went down hill. And was time toleave as it wasn't worth staying to fight for the exit against an 11,000 strong crowd. On leaving all I could hearboos coming from the venue, just confirming that I wasn't missing anything.

Over all the night was a success, it was just a disappointing end to the night with Jodeci's poor performance.Seeing as though they we're supposed to be the headling and last act, it was very upsetting for us fans.

London Mela 2012 celebrated two types of birthday in one this year on the 19th August 2012. It celebrated Eid, after the month of Ramadan as well as it's 10 year anniversary and it could'nt have been a better day for London as it was hot, sunny and cold drinks we're needed. Kix Mag popped down again at the Gunnersbury Park location in Ealing and celbrated with the people involved by conducting a behind the scenes, artist press opportunity, with the likes of Mumzy Stranger, Tasha Tah, Ramee, Char Avell, Missy J (Female Dhol Player), Shide Boss, Tazzz Artist, The Truth and again Krept and Konan just to name a few.
At the Introducing tent, we bumped into Tazzz who was showing off his skills Djing for Raxstar who just came from the DJ Nihals Mix Tent, telling the us what he has been up to. Also informing us that is Mixtape is out, called Tazzzmania as well as his latest act Elijah with a track called 'Teri Bina' (Video is out now). As a Producer Tazzz has got an multi - cultural eclectic vibe by producing new and improved genres of music but always proud of his Asian Origins, he also lets us know how he gets his Kix.

In the BBC Asian network mix tent the line-up was of DJ's mixing up the best in Bhangra, Funky, Hip-Hop, Desi Beats, Bollywood and  Drum ‘n’ Bass. We had the pleasure of speaking to Krept and Konan whose energetic performance got the crowd moving. They spoke about their love for festivals, enjoying performing and touring around the country. The duo performed with producer/ DJ Steel Banglez who has worked with the likes of Giggs, K Koke, Cashtastic and Wiley just to name a few. They brought on up and coming artist Yungen to perform ‘Go Down South’ ft Chipmunk and the crowd went crazy. Cashtastic another young artist on the rise was also on stage performing ‘Gassed In The Rave’ ft Krept and Konan which was a success. Cashtastic’s mixtape "Lil Bit Of Cash" is out now. The South London duo Krept and Konan are definitely set to do big things in the music scene. They have a new song out featuring Sneakbo called ‘Light Up’ and the video should be out soon. How do Krept and Konan get their Kix? By performing on stage. But Krept also let us know at Konan also gets his Kix from the ladies.

Shide Boss (coming all the way from Nottingham) came our way, describing how he came into the music scene and his influences, what he has been up this year (after coming off from the Hollyoaks Music Show), with his first single release called 'Ni Soniya' an RnB / Hip-Hop / Desi Beat showcasing his vocal range as well as his launage skills. Head-ling the Introducing Stage (hosted by BBC Asian Network DJ Bobby Friction), that made his name, currently working on a new single with a hot Asian / Desi act, after finding out who it might be, he kept it hidden he did say he has a mixtape coming out featuring the likes of K-Koke, Marger, Mutiyah from the Sugarbabes, showcasing his urban side. So Kix will keep you posted on that... also not forgetting how does Shide Boss get his Kix? By watching movies, listening to music, chilling and relaxing on those stressful weeks.

Shaziya Ramji & Denise Domfe, also caught up with the likes of The Truth, yes, he fits the name he reps by informing us that he started from the 2Step, Grime and Garage Scene and developed his sound for the mainstream market. In the process of doing this he found love to towards the Asian Music Scene, what he has done is blended both of the sounds together and perform and showcase the genre Live. With his Live Band, educating the young music genreation you can take both elements of instruments and fuse them together to create one harmonious sound, he also tells us that he has just dropped the album (Go and Support). Also including a feature from Jammer BBK. How does The Truth gets his Kix? By playing and performing Live music for the crowds.

Overall London Mela was a great event and who knew a festival started in a heat wave in 2003 would still be running but it seems that it will only get bigger and better. It will continue to grow in size and scale. It's evidence of a single idea turning into a world class event.
